In April 2023, Osisko Metals and Appian Natural Resources Fund III LP (“Appian”) formed the joint venture (JV) Pine Point Mining Limited.
The JV leverages Appian’s extensive mine development experience and includes a crucial investment of C$75 million into the development of the Pine Point Project to “shovel-ready” status. This funding will cover development costs including the feasibility study, environmental assessment and permitting, including Indigenous engagement, as well as definition drilling and additional exploration drilling.
Our Vision
The global push towards decarbonization to combat climate change has led to an unprecedented shift towards energy transition metals such as copper and zinc. Sourcing these critical metals from politically sensitive regions can be risky, which is why Pine Point Mining is at the forefront of a new generation of mining companies looking to restart projects in historical mining camps, in this case the Pine Point zinc-lead mining camp. We intend to make Pine Point Mining a leading base metal developer in North America.
Historically, the Pine Point Project produced among the world’s cleanest sphalerite and galena concentrates with very low impurities. This sets the project apart from most current producers.
The Preliminary Economic Assessment completed by the Company in 2022 indicates that the extensive shallow mineralization remaining on the property is economically viable.
